Re: Red triangles yet again
Thanks so much for your help! I'm using Audacity 2.4.2. It's not set to "sound activated." When I change it to MME or Windows Wasabi I get the same result, even when I close and reopen Audacity between tries. When I look at Sound Devices and click on the H2 it gives me the image below. It comes up a...

Red triangles yet again
I see there have been a few questions about the Dread Red Triangles, but different fixes seem to be working for different situations, and none so far for me. I can record with Audacity using my Behringer desktop mic or my webcam. And the last time I tried (months ago) I could record using my Zoom H2...

Re: Best way to clean this old audio
I actually used the steps you'd recommended for an audio book. It came out good enough.

Re: Best way to clean this old audio
Yes, it's far gone. The appeal to listeners will be that it is the voices of relatives from 43 yrs ago, singing baby songs. So there will be good tolerance of it not sounding very good; I just wanted to improve it as far as might be possible. I'll start with the Telephone filter. Let me know if you ...

Best way to clean this old audio
Hi, guys. I have gotten some audio from an old CD (originally a cassette tape, 1977) recorded by Audacity (I am running 2.4.2 on a Win 10 computer). I wanted to ask advice about how best to clean this up. A sample is attached.

Re: round in circles cda
I found a simple solution--I have a double-ended cable, and I plugged one end into the computer microphone jack, and the other into the speakers jack. I can play the disk and record it in Audacity. Hopefully that solves the problem.
Thank you all!
Thank you all!

Re: round in circles cda
Thanks, Koz, you always bail me out. I'm glad to know, at least, that I can stop beating my head against the wall. It's probably a CD-RW; I can't tell, because I put a sticker on the front, but I expect that's the problem. It's good advice, to play the CD and record it from the speakers. I had anoth...

Re: round in circles cda
Thanks. I downloaded CDex, but it's not recognizing the CD. Here are two screenshots. The first shows what I see in Windows Explorer. There is an audio CD in the E: drive. When I click it, it starts playing in WMP. No problem. But I would like to edit the file in Audacity, so I need to rip it and ma...

round in circles cda
I would like to edit in Audacity a recording (just my grandma talking) that I originally recorded on a tape recorder, and sometime in the early 2000s transferrecd to a CD. It's .cda format. Of course Audacity can't work with that, but encourages me to use Windows Media Player to rip it and convert t...
