Re: Warning - Opening old project file

Also, please be careful with Windows XP. Microsoft are no longer officially supporting it, so it will be unpatched against any new security vulnerabilities that appear. Eh eh. Well here isn't the right place to get involved in a long discussion but XP has been insecure since its release and in near...

Re: Warning - Opening old project file

I'm astounded that I over cooked that project Easily done. If you keep the tracks as 32 bit float format, then if over 0 dB is caused by processing, it can be corrected by amplifying (either the Amplify or Normalize effects) back down below 0 dB. You can't do that with 16 bit or 24 bit tracks becau...

Re: Warning - Opening old project file

and if I continue to open the project this is the result: Audacity 2.0.6 has opened the project correctly. That image shows that the audio in the project is hitting 0 dB and so will probably be distorted. Yes I thought the distortion was due to the new version. You can turn off the red "clip indica...

Warning - Opening old project file

XP SP3 Audacity 2.0.6 2.0.6 is working fine for new project but I went back to work on something from 2011 and get the "Warning - Opening old project file" window saying that the format has changed from 1.2.6 and that it likely won't work (and it doesn't). So what do I do? Reinstall the old version?...

Re: Import "Proprietory?" WAV

The unit is classed as a voice recorder and for both voice and recording the sounds I want it is more than passable and certainly better than the digital answering machines I've come across. Nonetheless if you have any recommendations of a low cost portable recording device which can record say up t...

Re: Import "Proprietory?" WAV

<<<I can set Audacity to record whilst playing back with Windows Media Player but the quality is also poor (echo) and the process is time consuming.>>> That at least is a Windows setup problem. You are either recording the built-in microphone or Mix-Out plus the direct sound, both at once. Yes I su...

Import "Proprietory?" WAV

I have just received an MP4/MP3 player (ATiPix) which allows up to 30hours voice recording which I wish to use to record certain sounds. The file produced is a .wav which plays back fine with Windows Media Player. However I wish to edit the file using Audacity and I run into problems. Audacity think...
