Hi, That's interesting that all Audacity versions worked so well on Sierra and High Sierra for you. I upgraded my Mac to High Sierra and it totally wrecked Audacity...I kept having dropouts in playback and skips during recording. I had to revert back to Yosemite to get things right. As it turns out, I had previously visited that page and already done all of that. Everything seems to be set correctly. Another engineer told me to do just the opposite with the buffering...to set it as high as I possibly could. That didn't do anything either :( Any other ideas? Again, it just start...

I will do that. I have tried multiple suggestions I've found in this forum and others already. Also it is audacity 2.2.1-- I mistyped it in the original post. Thank you.
