It could be a really obvious setting, such as the sample rate. I tried the 22050, & that did not make a difference, but in messing around with the settings, I discovered that changing the Sample Rate Conversion (Under "Quality") to the best quality (slowest) setting, made the skips in the recording...

Installed guvcview... records perfectly. Open file in Avidemux, save audio and have a good file. Play/edit in Audacity no problem.

Could be some obscure setting in Audacity causing skips?
