Re: Compression vs. Limiter and MP3 kbps Value on Export
Thanks so much Trebor. I'll check both of them out. I practiced some today and I feel it went quite well. Only had 2 or 3 sharp "S's" (smile). Played around with getting rid of them manually . . . and well, I don't think I did so bad for just trying the process out. :-) Again, will check out your re...

Re: Compression vs. Limiter and MP3 kbps Value on Export
Hi Trebor, Hey . . . good to know. I'm beginning to think that "some" of the effects can be used with minimal to unidentifiable extents as long as your raw recording meets the ACX Check test. Maybe I'm overthinking it (smile - well, I AM a woman!! ha! ha!) and getting overly anxious about ACX's requ...

Re: Fre:ac vs. Audacity MP3 Encoding and NoiseFloor Values ?
Ahhhhh! Thanks so much for the explanation on the NoiseFloor levels. And, yes, thanks too for correcting me on the peak numbers. I still have difficulty getting it right in my brain about how the negative number thing works. :-) That's another item I'll try to keep front an center in my brain to try...

Fre:ac vs. Audacity MP3 Encoding and NoiseFloor Values ?
Good afternoon all, OK, here's my newest question -- in an attempt to try and better understand some of the more technical aspects -- though I have a LOOOOOONG way to go and much of which I'll leave to you guys! :-) Honestly, just looking to be comfortable and knowledgeable about what I need to know...

Re: Compression vs. Limiter and MP3 kbps Value on Export
Hi Trebor, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm aware of the D-essers, but I know ACX does NOT approve of using them. My sibilance is not horrible, I just try to always improve on my delivery. :-) Gives me something new to learn. Plus, as Koz always recommends, I'm striving to get as close to perfect in ...

Re: Compression vs. Limiter and MP3 kbps Value on Export
Wow! Thanks so much for all your info. Perhaps if Koz reads this, and if he has anything to add, I hope he will. It's not that I don't value what you provided to me, I have just gotten the feeling from him that he may have more experience with the ACX stuff? Then again, I could be ever-so-completely...

Compression vs. Limiter and MP3 kbps Value on Export
Good afternoon (Koz? :) ) Hope this finds you doing well and having a super weekend! Have a new question for you. I've read in an ACX article/post that they actually "prefer" that we use "Limiter" vs. "Compression". Would you be so kind as to expound on your feelings/knowledge about either/or? I'm a...

Re: Missing Audio Data Block File(s)
Hi Gale (and Koz), Thanks for the explanation on the "saving" thing. Apparently I did get in a hurry and perhaps closed the file too soon. I'll be move vigilant. :-) Koz, sorry to say, I did delet the corrupt files. I'm sure I could always recreate them though. I have several other copies. And, no, ...

Re: Missing Audio Data Block File(s)
Hi Koz, Well, THAT makes more sense! :-) I'll definitely try the "right click" thing . . . but likely tomorrow. I think my brain is full for the day, today. :-) And, yes, Audacity gives you the "silence" options, but I am not well-versed enough in the software to choose something other than the "get...

Re: Missing Audio Data Block File(s)
Ha! Ha! Ha! I have the originals on my laptop and thumb drive . . . just without the edits. So I DOOOOO have them. It's quite possible I got hasty in closing a file. Would be nice is Audacity would show you a "saving progress" bar then if it takes so long to save a project. I will start doing the WA...
