I did not see any xruns reported. I am recording from a Allen & Heath QU32 mixer board via USB cable. Even at 2 channels, I get the buzzing. If I switch to analog and record the output from the headphone jack, all is good. Right now, I am using a 2.8 dual core with 4 gig RAM. Today with task manager...

Again, there is no joy. It is still doing the exact same thing with Jack handling everything. About every 2 minutes, a buzzing noise fades in on all 18 channels, lasts about 20 seconds and then fades out. 2 minutes later, same thing.

Alright. I didn't bother trying to get Jack to run on boot. Instead, I made a picture to use as wallpaper that says in big letters: Start JACK. Rebooted machine and Jack is not running. How do I make it run on start-up?

OK: got sound now. In the window that opens when I click on the Jack icon, do I have to do anything in that window before opening Audacity?

I started Audacity and selected Jack on everything I could find under Preferences. However, Audacity is showing a high level of sound output, but there is no sound from the speakers. What did I screw up?

I just saw where you said that you did use JACK. Why is that making a difference?
