Thankyou for the reply WC, at least I understand the problem now.

I am running 1.2.6. When I export my MP files into Audacity and play them they sound fine. When I have edited them, converted them back to MP3 and play them using Windows Media Player the quality is not nearly as good, any ideas please?

Found a solution for Audacity 1.2.X thanks to Ericman13 under post titled 'Help with LAME MP3 Encoder Install' but this version of lame_enc.dll does not appear to be compatble with Audacity 1.3.X.

Well done, Ericman13, saved me so much grief. However this lame_enc.dll works for 1.2.x but I got an incompatibility message when trying to import using 1.3.x.

I have installed Audacity 1.2.6 under Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 3 and I have copied lame_enc.dll into C:/program files/audacity. When I try to 'Export as MP3...'
