It's possible if you are going from one Audacity version to another that shipped plugins may get disabled. It is a very rare "moonphase" problem. I'm attaching a couple screen shots from the Mac vs my Ubuntu. All the Steve Dalton plugins are missing on the Mac. My Windows and Ubuntu systems have no problem with those plugins, just affecting the Mac El Capitan version.
