I see what Steve means but Record Producer lets us paste onto what's already there. I use it for adding, say an extra verse. With bar by bar editing, there are no clicks.

Paste commands
I know we can use extra tracks and the time-shift tool, but it would be helpful if we could paste into a track without everything to the right of the cursor moving and to cut a selection and paste it into the same place on another track.

The drawbacks to Record Producer are that it runs only in XP and lacks VST. It was bought up several years ago and the owner won't update it. Neither will he let anyone register it, so you would need some way to crack the 30 day trial, even if you're already a paid-up customer reinstalling RecProd. ...

I get a problem where a plugin works in stereo by itself but makes the stereo track into doubled mono in a chain. Try a plugin chained. Googling chainer vst will show more than one. Another work around could be to leave out one effect at a time until you find the one in question. Apply that one by i...

Try putting them in their own tracks. You can align by using the tools that lets you slide a track forward or backward.

Record Producer Deluxe has a snap to bar feature for editing and is one of the few reasons I still use it. Can we have the feature in Audacity?

I work on one track of a stereo pair by splitting as Gale says, doing whatever to the side, then making the two mono back into stereo by using the drop-down.
