Re: Playback is blank for 1st half, then plays fine for 2nd
Also, I noticed that I updated iTunes the day before the problem started. I hadn't updated it since I purchased the computer. Is it possible that iTunes could be causing the problem? I don't know much about iTunes on Windows, but the latest version killed USB tethering on OSX. A while back, an iTun...

Owww...
That's odd. What happens if I cut a piece of 16 bit audio to a track holding a 24 bit sample?
Or if I cut an 8-bit sample into a 16 bit track?
Maybe that's another veru good reason to show the real source SR & BR?

If you need closed headphones, look at Superlux HD681:

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
I'm still not sure what you mean exactly. If you have Song_A.mp3 44100 Hz stereo 192 kbps MP3 and Song_B.wav 96000 Hz stereo 24-bit WAV in one track, what would you show in the Track Info above the Mute button? Suppose you imported those files into separate tracks, then Mixed and Rendered them to o...

Re: Strange waveforms in Audacity
The resolution of the pics is a bit low, but I don't think that waveform is normal. It's not asymmetrical, it's not DC. There seems to be some kind of low frequency AM on the gain. You wouldn't happen to have one of the onboard effects of the R16 enabled by accident, would you? Any huge transformers...

Re: Record two mono channels simultaneously
I also have never seen any randomness or inability to save settings :? This is on Mac? And you find for a "simple" USB interface without routing that if you want to record channel 5 and 6 of 16, telling Audacity to record six channels always works? Gale It's like that since OS 4.2 at least  Bu...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
I'm still not sure what you mean exactly. If internal processing is 32 bit, all edits, as in cut and paste from one track to another are 32 bits, regardless of the source. Or not? And in the rare case that you would cut and past between tracks or even projects with different source bitrate and SR, y...

Re: Lock tool bar arrangement
I wonder how DAW's with lots of graphical toolbars manage this? I think that DAWs are usually operated full-screen (or on multiple monitors), so it's not an issue. A common arrangement in studio environments is to have the track window on one monitor (full-screen) and everything else on a second mo...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
Then it would need to be resampled to match the destination's sample rate, of course. Otherwise, you end up with a track that has different sample rates. I was lead to believe Audacity handled everything internally in 32 bit float. That would avoid the problem alltogether, since Audacity normally al...
