In that case, wouldn't it be better not to use an abbreviation, for search engine indexing and for the visually impaired, as they will probably be using a screen reader or a braille printer.

Some of these names might be valid in the file system. But especially double dots are not valid in networks and not even in some versions of Windows Explorer.
