Re: Suitable boom?

Are you treating your studio? Or are you making a moveable location setup? According to her original post, I think she wants to work with Audio Books. If that is the case, she really only needs to isolate her one mic. That is the great thing about doing a small sound treatment for one mic, it is ve...

Re: I guess it's best to wait for 2.1.2a? 2 questions.

Generally, 2.1.2 is stable. I haven't found any real problems. The loss of drag and drop import functionality is the only thing I can think of that is missing and that worked in 2.1.1. It's also easy to install both versions, if you keep in mind that they'll share some settings. You just need to ren...

Re: Suitable boom?

Are you treating your studio? Or are you making a moveable location setup? If you're installing fixed treatment, forget about that foam. HD foam exists, but is rather pricey. And the cheap stuff on Amazon en the bay, usually only is MD and doesn't do much for absorption. It's too thin anyway to work...

Re: background noise, street interviews, compressor settings

Street interviews will almost allways benefit from a rumble filter (high-pass @ 100 Hz or even 150 Hz). It's not only traffic noise that has a lot of energy in these low regions, but also sounds from mics rubbing against clothes, wind noise... What you can try to find is a multi-band compressor for ...

Re: I can't scroll right on audio track

I think I misunderstood...

I can slide the handle underneath the window, but I can't use two finger slide on the trackpad to go left and right. Up and down works.

Maybe I don't understand?

It works for me, scrolling left and right, but with the standard trackpad on the MB Pro...

Or is this just a problem with the magic mouse?

Re: Workflow on mixing tracks

I don't see what "and Render" adds to the understanding, because it seems obvious that waveforms are going to change. So if we have new "Mix" functions perhaps we can revisit the "and Render". I don't mind either. Some newbies might just recognize "render" an...

Re: subliminal messages

If your target is mp3, you need to amplify to a maximum level of -3 dB peak. The mp3 encoder likes to add another dB of gain in most cases. Anything that is already heavily compressed will sound awful if it's over -3 dB. Using a multi band compressor can help a lot too. But that takes time to tune. ...

Strange behaviour 2.1.2 name export

Tested with Audacity 2.1.2 on OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks. There are two separate naming issues. 1. Export name When I export an audio file, the name offered in the dialog box, is from a previous, deleted track. The first on in the project. The project itself hasn't been saved. Several tracks were imported...
