Re: Scarlett Solo + Shure 55SH II, Low volume but useable
And here are some of the "others", as they can be hard to find: Crimson Audio Mogaine: http://www.crimsonaudiotransformers.com/Mogaine/ Rode D Power Plug active: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rode-Power-Plug-active-plug/dp/B000BH8SWO?tag=duc08-21 (Rode doesn't even seem to have a product page......

A good interface that gives 60 dB of clean gain doesn't come cheap... A solution is to by a FetHead, Cloudlifter or one of the other inline +20 dB gain things. These aren't cheap either, but they're flexible and will solve the level problem for dynamic and ribbon mics. See: http://cloudmicrophones.c...

Re: preferences clavinova using midi cables
It's only 2 channels, so recording microphone and keyboards in stereo simultaneously wouldn't be possible. But you could first record keyboard in stereo, play that back and sing along. If you need to record the keyboard in stereo and simultaneously record the microphone, you'd need a 4 channel inter...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
Information being in three places isn't good. (Not about mirrors). As an uninformed user (read, one that doesn't RTFM), you have to find: 1. the left side track menu to go enable spectral view. 2. Then, you have to select frequencies in the waveform view 3. to have the result shown wherever the freq...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
I think that waxcylinder's post sums it up nicely. Still have to read Steve and Gale's post though :D Audacity is good, especially for beginners with moderate needs. But since it has grown naturally, the plan is missing. And those who make the features are so close to the subject, they cannot grasp ...

Re: New Revised Loudness Standards From The EBU
I've finally found the time to read that short paper and let it sink in... The conclusion that podcasts should be at -16 LUFS is clearly wrong. There is nothing in that paper that supports it. There wouldn't be any problem at all, if on the consumer's side, there wouldn't be any crappy systems. Norm...

Re: wxWidgets crashes_third-party plugins
It would really surprise me that Xcode 7.2 had something to do with it. It's a security update, fixing holes in Git. Unless Apple is updating other stuff too and not telling anyone? That wouldn't surprise me at all... And BTW, Xcode 7.2.1 is available. Contains a lot of bugfixes, according to ...

Re: wxWidgets crashes_third-party plugins
Interesting. I suppose this is on El Capitan, since I have Xcode on Mavericks and haven't seen any problem yet. So, please keep us updated.
And for me too, I avoid iLok completely as I've seen far too many problems with it over the years.

Re: Drag and Drop Import Broken v 2.1.2
This is related to a security update. Someone found a way to execute code, hidden in an audio or video file. Since the average user will never suspect these files to carry malware, the update was badly needed. I haven't seen any audio app development team taking notice. A fix would require some work...

FWIW
I've had to disable Melda plugins too. Don't remember which ones, as I've replaced them and it was a while ago...
