I've never tried those. It's an SDC in an LDC housing, IIRC. What's wrong with it?kozikowski wrote:@cyrano I own a C1 microphone and it has significant shortcomings.

Re: audio bandwidth question
kbps is "streaming" audio. Nothing to do with audio files. Of course, you can store streaming audio in a file too. How else would the server that "streams" the file over the internet get that to your computer. Streaming is a necessary evil to make internet audio work. The server ...

Re: downside of "silence audio?" Negative amplify?
"Silence audio" is brutal. Not nice. You could use "amplify" (with a negative number) on breath sounds and noise, or "noise removal". That would take some experimenting to get right, but would sound more natural. I sometimes use envelopes to reduce noise, as it is even ...

Re: Noise Reduction
I've listened to some of your songs on your website and to test1.wav.. Nice music! I like it a lot. Your're a good recordist too. Good tone. But the low output of the SM57 combined with the noisiness of the Alesis mixer give a -50 dB noise floor. At high gain, these mixers tend to get noisy. You'll ...

Re: wxWidgets crashes_third-party plugins
Yeah ive dealt with the audacity.cfg before. I know this probably not the best or official procedure but i keep the audacity .zip files for all the versions back to 2.1.0, i just dont keep them in PATH or in apps dir. I usually only have the most current ver of Audacity in apps dir, save for a part...

Re: wxWidgets crashes_third-party plugins
Audacity has a configuration file, called audacity.cfg. It resides in ~/Library/Application support/audacity/ If you quit Audacity, remove or rename the file and restart Audacity, it'll start up with a blank slate. I've never seen plists or cfg files affecting other programs, though. Not all plugins...

Re: Doing precise selections
If it is just lead-in and the end you need to remove, you could consider my dumb solution: I never cut these, unless really long. When the job is finished, I select the part I want to keep and use "export selection". That's also because I don't keep projects, but export an archive copy whe...

Okay, back to the OP's problem.
@jbgordon
You wouldn't happen to have FileVault enabled, would you?
Do you happen to have MS Office's Word open while doing the editing in Audacity?

Re: Could not Save Project. Perhaps Disk is Full
After some hours of testing, Audacity crashed when quitting. Had to kill it. Tried a number of times quitting again - no problem. Checked the log in Audacity. Nothing. When closing the log window with command + w, Audacity asked if I wanted to save. When I answered "No", it didn't close th...
