Re: ART USB Phono Plus spdif in on Ubuntu
I'm guessing the Sound Blaster Extigy USB could be a problem. Spdif connections can be a bit weird. When manufacturers follow the book, they derive clock from the header. Some devices don't send a complete header, others insert the wrong clock frequency. That's why most devices try to derive clock f...

Apple's creative naming schemes... :D There is no Lightning port on Macs. That's an iOS (iphone, ipad) thingy. On Macs, it's called a Thunderbolt port. No wonder it confuses most people... And Apogee is in the same club. No type number. It's THE Apogee mic, as there is only one. Apogee doesn't manuf...

Re: RMS measurement for large files
My understanding was that many early Intel Macs were in a similar position to Windows because some of the 4 GB physical address space was taken up by system I/O memory requirements. However most higher end and later Macs as I understand it use a chipset that allows them to put system I/O in a separ...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
Meanwhile, I've done some research. The problems are: - CENELEC. A legal obligation in the EU for hardware mobile players not to go over a certain level of loudness. - Crappy speakers in crappy devices. - People listening in areas with far too much background noise. To solve these, Thomas Lund has s...

Re: Windows 8 64 Bit User Need Help with Plug-ins.
I am now interested in trying to find another Graphic EQ Plugin. I currently have the Graphic EQ Plugins besides the Martin Shaw & Mitch Golden Plugin installed, Are there any others that can be suggested for my Op. System, that can be recommended? There's a whole lot of EQ's out there. Here ar...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
For podcasts, broadcast standards are commonly said to be too low for the target audience (listening on portable devices in noisy environments). That's the point, Steve. "Commonly said"... AFAIK nobody really made a study of it. And since we know that people are inclined to find louder al...

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
In this example, it wouldn't matter. But what if you have an interview in the first hour and a loud rock concert in the second hour?theRamenNoodle wrote:Sure, you might have a loud yell in one hour, but wouldn't that balance out with the rest of the hour of audio?

Re: Adding Cover Art & Meeting I-85 Compliant Needs
I can think of one scenario. You're listening in VR. As you turn your head, the sound field changes. Koz That's what several big brands are trying to launch this year. That wouldn't be compliant to EBU128, as we're talking entire show here. And the "show" could be a 15 second commercial, ...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
I sometimes have two tracks with the same audio, one set to waveform view and the other one to spectral view. That's useful for me to try and understand what spectral view is showing. I'm so used to work with amplitude vs. frequency that I get lost in spectral view. Somehow it doesn't seem to comput...
