Re: Can I reduce mp3 file size?
There's that 32 bit confusion again... 32 bit is Audacity's internal format. It's higher than "physical" formats, to gain room for calculations. You can export in 32 bit, fi for mastering, to go to another DAW without converting. Besides that fringe case, you NEVER export 32 bit. A lot of ...

Re: USB Codec recognized, but no sound recording.
The Behringer is a 2 in, 2 out USB inteface that is "USB audio class" compliant. That should work without any driver install on any recent Windows, but often doesn't. As all Behringer 2IO interfaces use the same driver, could you tell us if you have installed anything for the Behringer? An...

Re: Adding "timbre" to (almost) pure modulated sin tones
Hello everybody, I am new to audacity. I want to produce songs using it. I do not like DAWs because they sound "digital". Audacity is a DAW too, even if some would rather call it an audio editor. My problem is I invented some songs requiring many kind of different instruments, but I can o...

Re: How to record from Casio WK-240
AFAIK Windows, OSX and Linux have the basic MIDI driver built-in. That's only the driver for the interface, sending and receiving MIDI commands. It's like the serial driver, that's also built-in, but it works at a different pace. When it comes to interpreting the commands in the computer, you'll nee...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
As the blind user can't see the spectrogram, is this really an issue? I understand the need to cater for VI users, but wouldn't a setting in preferences for VI use be better? That setting would switch off all things that are inaccessible if you're blind and switch to an interface with text reproduct...

Re: Youtube's algorithm for content ID music removal?
The answer is quite simple. It's all digitally generated content. The "music" is stereo, the sounds are perfect mono, perfectly in the middle. A polarity inversion on the stereo part will cancel it perfectly and leave very little trace on the mono sounds. And since the "music" is...

Re: Can I reduce mp3 file size?
a few years ago I produced some podcasts and they came out the other end at about 5 MB? hmmm? A few years ago, streaming had a lot lower bitrate. And podcasts were shorter. So I'd guess that the resulting file would be smaller. And like Koz explained, it's all in the quality. With a lower bitrate, ...

There is no real info and the system shows unexpected behaviour. The plist should be recreated after a restart, but it isn't. Info from these threads: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5939590?start=30&tstart=0 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3128603?start=0&tstart=0 cd /Preferences ...

Re: Removing Vocals from A Track - Is This possible??
Yes/No/maybe. Pick your answer. It depends on the track an will never be perfect. It could be useful for training. If the vocal is perfectly centered in the middle and the song has a lot of stereo effect, it will work. If the singer isn't in the middle, or the vocal had been run through so...
