You only need Lame for mp3, but ffmpeg can do mp3 export too, if Lame is installed.
Probably you could export mp3 from Audacity because Lame was already installed by some other software and it was a version that's compatible with Audacity?
Maybe with "iTunes-LAME Encoder"?

Re: ringmodwithLFO has a error message
If it's not too much trouble, could you please report your exact Audacity and Windows version. See the pink box above. "The latest version" might be very obviously 2.1.2 today. Or it might not. But people will read this post in the future and then it won't be as obvious. I can't read the e...

Re: Black Banner post Audacity Load
That's the right download, all right.
In which case, I'm out of ideas.
Never seen this on OSX. It doesn't look like hardware failure, because the black banner has styled corners. That should mean it's software and it's probably a bug in Audacity, or something in your system.

Re: Black Banner post Audacity Load
I sincerely doubt your Mac OSX version is 10.1. So I'll take that for 10.11. And Audacity isn't 2.12, but probably 2.1.2. Are you sure you downloaded Audacity from: http://www.audacityteam.org/ Not from any other site? You can see where you downloaded it from, if you kept the original download, by s...

Good mixer, bad manual...
And you're lucky it's still a USB 1.1 device. I should have known that, as it's a 2 i/o over USB.

Re: Move some export preferences into export interface
Yes, Steve. If possible that should even be default. Why? Not because most users will do vinyl/cassette. But because it forces them to look at the metadata fields and see if the counter would need to be reset to one. If it matters to them, of course. If it doesn't they can disable the whole shebang....

Re: Move some export preferences into export interface
" Checkbox in dialog to pass metadata through to all exported files automatically: if identical tags wanted for all files, saves having to (remember to) File > Open Metadata Editor to add tags before export. (59 votes) " Yes it has (relatively) a lot of votes, but if we implement that lit...

Re: Can I reduce mp3 file size?
A 22050 sample rate's files are half the size when compared to 44100... 44100 has 22050 Hz, or 22 KHz as highest recorded tone. A bit less, really, as the filters need to be some distance from the top. Well beyond human hearing. Half of the sampling frequency is the top of the frequency range. 22100...

Re: USB Codec recognized, but no sound recording.
That leaves you with the ASIO4ALL driver from Behringer... Which won't work with Audacity, afaik. Now, who will you get mad at? Behringer, for using a standard solution that has existed since 2009 (UAC2) and always worked well? Or Microsoft, for deciding this standard was no longer needed in Win 10?

You could try Mutools' Mulabs. It's one third the price and there's a free, limited version:

I don't use it myself, but I know a couple of users who seem stuck to it
