Re: Exporting true stereo file
IMHO, mp3 is unusable for this kind of application. When you convert to mp3, it will downmix less important frequencies almost to mono. And I think that's what's happening in your extreme use case. The MP3 encoder is designed for music, and music only. It will cope with voice, but it's not ideal. An...

Re: Can't use AirPlay speakers
I've tried it with an Airport Express, Audacity 2.1.2 on Mavericks and it works as it should here. So I'm not sure what your problem is. Did you try without the iHome speakers connected to your network? Have you tried restarting everything (including the router) What make/model is the router? An App...

Re: I find Audacity too complicated.
Mp3MyMp3 seems to be something close to RipVinyl: http://www.mp3mymp3.com/ I've never used it, but it's free, so it's easy to try. Be careful where you download it from. Some sources seem to come bundled with "Relevant knowledge", which is adware. Here's the site of the makers: https://www...

Re: Can't use AirPlay speakers
And what brand/model are these Airplay speakers? Airport Express?
I only use Airplay with iTunes and it works. Can"t remember if I've ever tried it with Audacity. I'll test later, as I have to run now...

Re: Condenser microphone and Audacity
I'm not sure about this. I only held one in my hand and had to extract that info from a tiny mostly Chinese leaflet. It was so cheap (15 €?) that I was considering buying it as a housing for a DIY mic. But the non-standard XLR connector made me decide against that idea. So I've never used one. Later...

I believe I've seen that one before...
It's powered by USB, but the audio signal goes via the 3,5 mm jack plug. So you need a mic input on your computer and you loose a USB port for power.
Can you still send it back?

Re: Clicking noise - only on one side of an audio tape
The only thing I can imagine is that the headphones output from the tape deck has a high cut filter that masks the high frequency spikes enough to render them inaudible. Are you listening with the same headphones to the deck and to your Mac? What happens if you low pass filter the recording in Audac...

Re: transfer voicemails from Samsung to MacPro
If the sound quality isn't your main concern and you can play the messages one by one on your phone, simply connecting a 3.5 mm jack connector cable to the phone and to the Mac could do the job. Play a message on the phone, hit record in Audacity, export as wav. You need to select the audio in port ...

Re: wasapi vs mme
can't understand why sound forge is so popular ,it's still 64bit and it's not cheap... It's been around for a long time, so lots of professionals are used to it. And it comes with a suite of very expensive professional plugins (iZotope), which explains the price. The plugins cost more than SF if yo...

Re: Background noise while recording cassette
The new ones are very solid, just like the old ones. It took a long time, since the provider of the chips took a long time to get the quality right. According to the grapevine, Behringer will be making its own chips, under license now, to avoid delay. That doesn't mean there are no problems, of cour...
