Re: Frequency isolation
There is no way to measure volume (or loudness), as your setup isn't calibrated. And since the signal you want to measure drowns in the background noise, there isn't even a way to measure it uncalibrated. The dB level scale in Audacity is relative. For a loudness measurement you need to set it to an...

Re: Can the effects menu be altered
There is a setting for the listing in the preferences. But maybe you knew that already?
It separates the list into an "Audacity" part, a "Nyquist" part and an "others" part. It's not exactly what you want, but it provides separate, shorter lists.

Re: After closing Audacity I get a black screen and my curso
Oh, yes. Where did you download it from? It could be your Mac is crashing. Can't tell from the description. How did you turn it off? - By pressing the power button for a couple of seconds? - With the "shutdown" menu command? - By pushing the power button shortly and then confirming the dia...

Re: After closing Audacity I get a black screen and my curso
For some reason, Audacity doesn't close (quit in Mac terms) as it should. And when you start your computer again, OSX reopens it. This is an OSX function (you should get a dialog window with checkbox when confirming the shutdown that reads "reopen windows when restarting" or something alik...

Re: Audio Finishing for Best, Most Even Sound
There's no echo. There's motor noise, white noise, but no echo. So it must be your computer playing it twice, with a slight delay between both signals.
Could this motor noise be vibration coupled? Have you tried putting the mic on a heavy book with a thick towel under it?

How to dump a rom with Audacity
Old computers used audio to "record" programs and data on audio cassette recorders. Kai Christian Bader, a German, used the audio out port from his Sharp PC-1500/1600 to send the data from the old computer to a new one and recorded the audio with Audacity: http://www.kaibader.de/sharp-pc-1...

Thanks Gale.
I wasn't sure if it was me, or a bug, as I've never used sync lock.

Re: Over-amplified file saved as MP3 - can it be fixed
I'm sorry, there's no way to fix that. If it was a little distortion and not saved as mp3, you could probably make it a little bit better. But if it is really overloaded and then converted to mp3, it's end of story. There are even a couple of expensive plugins that do declipping. But they're no mira...

Re: Noise Reduction process
That's normal.. You almost always notice more noise in the recording than you notice "live". I think it's related to our directional hearing ability. We subconsciously focus on the sound we want to hear and ignore sounds coming from other directions. It's also because you can see the soun...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
Noise reduction is about the only thing I use frequently in Audacity. The new version took a little time to adjust to, but it is a lot better. Period.
