Re: ADX Trax Pro & Audacity plug-in question

It claims it can isolate and/or remove* vocals from songs, even songs where effects like reverb have been added to the lead vocal. I'd guess that is misleading advertising. There's a lot of that on the Internet. I don't know steve. They were at Musikmesse 2016 and had a pretty convincing demo on a ...

Re: How to dump a rom with Audacity

It's a small world, isn't it? Nice to know. I wouldn't mind "finding" a PDP11 like we had in those days. You can interface it with almost any other computer. I think that would even work with TCP/IP today. We had an APE box going to the 3090. Yes, it was really called "APE", that...

Re: Can't get Mic and music together in headphones

...using a Citronix SMFX 200 mixer with 2 USB ports plugged into the PC... Do you really have 2 USB leads going to the PC? "I detect an RTFM problem here", I figured. Only, there's no mention AT ALL in the manual what this second USB should be used for. In fact, the manual is for people w...

Re: How to dump a rom with Audacity

The "naked" PDP11 was around 20.000 $. The IBM PC-G was around 5.000 $ and came with a keyboard. DEC misjudged the market. By the time they were thinking about a "PC", the clones already had grabbed it. The same is happening to Intel. They figured the X86 platform would last fore...

Re: White Noise Instead of Audio THAT IS THERE!

I think .MOD is JVC being funny.

IIRC, it's just an mpeg, named differently. You can just change the extension to .mpg, but not to .wav. That will result in Audacity producing white noise. If you name it .mpg, ffmpeg will extract the audio. If ffmpeg is installed, of course.

Re: How to dump a rom with Audacity

The PDP11-93 was the first serious computer I worked on. Rock solid. Later we got PC's and the trouble started. First IBM PC-G, later Compal. The Compals were a bit faster, but also a bit buggier. Then we got Windows... Fortunately, we could find reasons to make the company buy Mac plusses f...

Re: ElCap Error while opening sound device etc

I feel your pain... I've just erased my El Capital test install to start testing on Yosemite. It's not that there are a lot of problems with audio on EC, it's just that they don't surface for everyone and I can't solve them. ATM, I only have one machine, a brand new MB Pro i7 15" 2016 that stil...

Re: Unexpected crashing and project recovery

A program crashing shouldn't make your Mac reboot. And certainly not Audacity. Maybe your audio interface could provoke it, by drawing to much USB power, but that would still point to failing hardware. If this happens, there's something seriously wrong with either your system software, or your hardw...

Re: ElCap Error while opening sound device etc

Which Protools version are you using? Older versions came with a kernel extension that took complete control of Core audio. It was there to prevent stuttering in Protools, but often produced problems in other audio apps. I'm not sure that kernel extension even works under El Capitan. But I don't kno...

Re: Unable to Record in Stereo with Focusrite 2i2

@smw If you only have one mic connected that's not stereo. The interface works as it should, passing it along on one channel. What's confusing, is that the direct monitoring on the 2i2 is mono. You plug in one mic, but you'll hear it on both channels in the monitors... @elroberto17 If you use direct...
