Re: How to dump a rom with Audacity
I know of a number of VAXes at universities, some working, some in storage. But no working PDP's in my neighborhood. Perhaps I live in the wrong neighborhood? :ugeek: I also have a customer who still uses a Philips P7000. Indestructible. It gets used with a number of terminals for text entry. The la...

Re: Checking my computers EQ accuracy
Your computer's EQ is digital. These tend to be very accurate. That said, programs to analyze do exist. But it's not easy to set up right and you'll find small flaws. But these flaws will stem from cables used, deficiencies in the sound card and user error far more than from flaws in the EQ itself. ...

Re: Cant record electric guitar in stereo, ive followed the
It has stereo line level inputs at the back Oh. That would totally work. I've always thought "Instrument-In" is a marketing ploy. One of the editors used to regularly use the Line-In on his music system for his guitar work. Being obsessive, I put a scope on his guitar and I was able to hi...

Re: How to dump a rom with Audacity
I'll check my hardware archive (car-park/garage). Koz  The latest models of the PDP11 line are the smallest. You'd think there would be some left, but I'm afraid there are more of the big ones and the vaxes left. And these are way too big for my man cave... And I've sold all the vintage junk a...

Re: recording vinyl...too loud
FWIW: If you use the Focusrite for 18 channels, the highest sample rate it will support is 48 kHz. You can go higher, but with fewer channels. And that's true for all interfaces with ADAT extension. ADAT is 8 channels at 48, 4 channels at 96 kHz and some even do 2 channels at 192 kHz. And the ART on...

Re: recording vinyl...too loud
One thing that is strange is: I monitor the output of the turntable from the headphone jack on the ART, so that is BEFORE the signal reaches the computer. Once the ART is connected to the computer, if I unplug the usb cable, I lose sound in the headphones. Yet, if I don't connect, then I always hav...

Re: Moving Audiosamples
First off, which Audacity version are you using?
Copy paste works for me, but I use a Mac. I don't think Win10 would limit that, so we need to see if you have a recent and authentic Audacity installed. Where did you download yours?

Re: ADX Trax Pro & Audacity plug-in question
Most of the high-end plugins don't exist in freeware or even cheap versions. Cedar, Melodyne... But for compressors, equalisers and most everyday-use plugins there are lots of options. Just a short list of what I've been trying out: - dpMeter - BeyerDynamicVS - UpStereo - TDR VOS SliqEQ - TDR Nova -...
