Looks good. Still no file browser for Nyquist, I presume?Gale Andrews wrote:If getting the frequency spectrum of the sample that sounds good is a possible route, you may not need to spend all that money http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 37#p203837.

Thanks, Gale. Didn't know that.
I've always believed it was needed when doing SRC too. One's never too old to learn, even at my age

Re: using arecord to record from USB Audio Capture device
I'm not sure I understand the question, but it looks like you're trying to aggregate your USB interface with internal audio. Jack can do that. Have a look here: http://www.jackaudio.org/faq/multiple_devices.html Be forewarned, it doesn't work with all devices and it can be quite buggy. I also don't ...

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?
The producer/host of the show has no experience with podcasting... I am subcontracted... What I was really hoping was that there was a tool I didn't know about that would do for tone what a compressor does for volume -- just level it all out. I get it. The main contractor doesn't know how to handle...

Re: Exporting to MP3
I have a really good idea why they do it. It's "safe." It's also easy and cheap. If you only need to provide 36 dB gain, you can fall back on one of the 5 cent chip solutions. If you want 60 dB of clean, noise free gain, you need a good design, selected transistors and testing after production. And...

Re: Exporting to MP3
The Shure MVi Digital Audio Interface is aimed at modern conderser mics with an output in the 10+ mV range. With only 36 dB gain, it's not able to cope with dynamic mics. The SM7b is an old fashioned dynamic, output around 1 mV that needs an excellent preamp to shine. You really need 60 dB gain to u...

Re: 5.1 an 7.1 surround playback issues
I believe HDMI can only do stereo, or Dolby AC, not multi-channel. That does not appear to be correct according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Audio.2Fvideo and other references. It may be true that multi-channel is not a mandatory part of the standard. Quote from Wikipedia For digital audio...

Re: Mysterious digital corruption during recording
I"m guessing your are using the original Motu UltraLite, not the MKII, or the MKIII? In that case, the Firewire cable could be too long or too old. The UltaLite is a rock solid interface, but it has become of age and it's starting to show problems like yours. The error correction on the Firewire por...

Re: 5.1 an 7.1 surround playback issues
I have a windows 10 system. I am using VLC media player. I output hdmi to a denon receiver. I believe HDMI can only do stereo, or Dolby AC, not multi-channel. So you'd need te re-encode your 6 channel audio to an AC3 stream. There is a DirectShow AC3 encoder for Windows, but it's gone in Win 10. Be...

Re: Audacity not fully exporting audio file
In the case of this error, wouldn't it be nice to offer the possibility to export as bwav or RF64?
