Re: Audacity Menu

The closest I can get is the help tips if you mouse over an icon. Are these enabled in Audacity's preferences?

Re: Audacity Menu

You go to the page that describes the button and hit command-p on your Mac?

Or am I being dense again?

Re: Audacity Menu

See the blue area over your post?

There's a link "manual".

And in the manual, there's a picture of the interface. If you click on any of the buttons, it takes you to the relevant page.

Some good old-fashioned picture mapping. Better than Youtube vids...

Re: adding a device on audacity

I dunno, Koz. The docs mention Core audio compliance and ASIO. But what does "Core audio compliance" mean, exactly? But nothing to be found for the drivers on the Mac, if needed. It seems you need the setup app to set sample rate and bit depth. Windows need ASIO, so that won't be much good with Auda...

Re: Fosshub 2016-08-03 compromise time window?

Just a side-note: If you use Windows, move anything you want to run, like an installer .exe, from the downloads folder to any other folder (or even the desktop) before you run it. Running it in the downloads folder might execute stray dll's that might have landed there from a drive-by malware downlo...

The signal output path from the mixer can be easily modified using its setup tool via a computer USB sound card functions can be used by installing the driver software a...

Re: transferring ADAT tapes to Windows via USB port

The only afforable solution to get ADAT I/O I know, is the MiniDSP ADAT: https://www.minidsp.com/products/usb-audio-interface/usbstreamer-box It's around a 100 $. Only worry is if it'll work on Windows. That depends on your Windows version, but fortunately MiniDSP also provides an ASIO driver. That ...

Re: Evening out the volume on a playlist

As Steve said, it works in iTunes, but the songs don't get changed. If you need to make a long playlist, you could have a look at Mixxx: http://mixxx.org/ It's open source, free, available for Windows, Linux and Mac and has a lot of built-n features that are meant just for your application. And it u...

Thanks, Richard.

Seems an interesting bird, with that crossed beak. Never seen or heard one here.

Re: Recording Bird Calls

If you've never done this before, I'd advise a standalone recorder in stead of a computer. Even if the preamps are a bit less than on a good audio interface, it will be far less hassle. Computer batteries don't last very long and are relatively heavy to carry around. Recorder batteries are small, li...
