Re: Overloading Input Meters
Supposing you didn't get the battery polarity wrong: Try doing a PRAM reset: hold option, command, p and r while booting until you hear the chime for a second time. If that doesn't work, do a deep discharge by putting the battery in with the wrong polarity for a minute. Then change to the right pola...

Re: fake stereo?
I want to record BOTH channels, even tho one is a clone of the other (or, as I called it, fake stereo.) That's usually called "double mono". "Fake stereo" is a mono recording with some fake stereo effect added. Especially with 78 rpm records, I would avoid that. 78 rpm's already have character and ...

Re: How to remove loud sounds? Envelop? Anything else?
I however have an effect called AUPeakLimiter, but with a very different menu: Is the AUPeakLimiter a newer version, and then how does it work? Or where can I find the Limiter plug-in? AU effects are Apple Units. They come with Garageband or Logic, but can be used in other DAW's (Digital Audio Work...

Re: Overloading Input Meters
I 've checked schematics and service docs. Only info: • two built-in stereo speakers, internal microphone, dual headphone jacks, analog audio in/out line level jacks • digital audio, spatializer N-2-2, AC-3 Playback, bass enhancement Nothing about levels. And line level could mean anything, in Apple...

Re: Could not Save Project. Perhaps Disk is Full
Is that a known issue with Word, cyrano? Not AFAIK, but audio can be an issue with a Mac with a Fusion disk, especially using FileVault. Usually, the problem surfaces while recording, but writing out a wav is like recording too. And having Word open won't help, presumably, but it's easy enough to t...

Re: Overloading Input Meters
Zero dB in tape is goodness... Zero dB in digital is bad... With tape you have to record as hot as possible, because you need to get as much distance as possible from the noise floor (-60 to -70 dB typically). And going over zero a bit, just gives a bit of cubic distortion. Most people like cubic di...

Re: Overloading Input Meters
Mmmm... Thanks.
I seem to remember a sensitivity of 30 mV for these, but with a mono + pip power setting besides the stereo in. I had a 450 MHz version. Let me see if I can find the schematics and work out what Apple concocted exactly...

That could be the line input, I think. But frankly, I don't remember clearly, as it's a long time ago...

Re: Overloading Input Meters
I've looked up your Mac. It's the "Summer 2000", DV edition. "DV" stands for digital video. It should really work well for audio as it has been optimized for video. If you need to spec your Mac in the future, you can use this link: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac_dv_se_500.html...
