Re: Recording EVP/spiritual responses
Light is not a radio frequency. It's a magnitude higher in frequency... It's easy to record, though. Just replace the mic with a small battery and a light sensitive diode. You'll notice that almost all light producing equipment transmits some frequencies. From the lowly lightbulb that will give you ...

Re: Recording EVP/spiritual responses
What you are recording are the sounds of the earth and the universe... Use a coil as a pickup, not a mic. No need for black tape. Tuning that will yield far better results. And what you will be hearing are magnetic interactions in the Earth's crust, noise from the milky way and other phenomena. The ...

Re: Competition: Find the hidden music.
Thanks, Robert. My FB account wasn't compromised. But I grew tired of getting spam from FB. I demanded to have my account deleted when the spam started getting annoying. And that was when they started spamming me with reminders for dear friends that had passed away years before. When they started ce...

Re: White noise during recording!
Just have a look at this thread on the AKAI forum: http://community.akaipro.com/akai_professional/topics/akai-eie-pro-works-for-a-while-and-then-creates-bitcrushed-digital-distortion-from-outputs Same problem, different solutions, nobody's happy with it. And that thread is just an example, there are...

Re: White noise during recording!
There is no working driver for the AKAI EIE Pro for El Capitan. I'm afraid that interface is a small disaster. The non Pro version is USB audio class compliant and as such, needs no drivers. For the Pro version, AKAI has thrown the towel into the arena. They won't be updating the driver, probably ca...

Look under the Apple menu, "about this Mac". There you can find the system version installed.

Re: Unpredictable tech clicks in sound file
The first thing that comes to my mind, is: "is your OSX up-to-date?"
10.11.5 had weird USB problems for some. 10.11.6 has fixed that for most.

Re: Noise Floor
no, actually I meant those foam acoustic treatment things that go in the corners of the room to reduce low frequencies (but thank you for the extra info- I know nothing, so everything about sound recording is interesting to me). Those would be easy to fit in my room, and they don't cost a great dea...

Re: RMS measurement for large files
Is that true on Linux and Mac as well as Windows? On Linux, the split between the kernel and the user address range may be configured in different ways. On my 32-bit Linux machine, which has 3 GB of RAM, the user address range is 2 GB. I guess that it could be more on a machine with more physical R...
