Re: Crashing on Yosemite
But why record 32 bit float?
AD's provide either 16 or 24 bits per sample. I've always believed that should be the input setting and the DAW will work with 32 bit float internally.
Or is that a fairy tale? Or is Audacity different?

Re: Crashing on Yosemite
EDIT: Please ignore. I see you're already on Mac OS X 10.10.3. Didn't remember page 2 of this thread. 10.10.4 will be out soon and will (finally) have a network fix included. The problem was that Yosemite often reported a working network as unavailable. Only DNS failed and the conclusion was you had...

Re: Question about ripping vinyl to MP3
You didn't tell us what kind of turntable... If it's a "normal" TT, eg, one without a preamp, you probably need a ground wire from the TT chassis to ground on your preamp. In your case, your computer is the preamp. This isn't the easiest setup, because computers can induce a lot of interference. And...

Re: Audacity stops recording when I switch applications...
If its mostly random, it could be a hardware problem... 1. Try another USB cable (better, shorter) if you are using a USB audio interface. If not, please specify your hardware. 2. Check power saving settings in Mint and experiment with those. A lot of PC's put parts of the hardware to sleep when not...

Re: Menu flashing, will not save modified project
You're right Gale. Should have made it clearer... The menu bar flashes IF audio is muted AND there is an alert sound. And you can enable that as default in Accessibility, f.i. if you have bad hearing or work in an extremely noisy environment. And nowadays, it's no longer the menu bar that flashes, b...

Re: Audacity 2.1.0 Won't Find FFmpeg libraries
Where's the smiley for confused? There is no dmg and package installer. The package is ON the dmg. Stupid me. I've also checked the installer path for the ffmpeg installer on Banzo's site and that should go to /Library/Application support/ But I remember clearly moving ffmpeg from /Applications to /...

Re: Audacity 2.1.0 Won't Find FFmpeg libraries
Did you put it there, or did the System put it there? I'm not familiar with that location. Mine are in a hidden folder /Library/Application Support/audacity. I'm not sure, but I think that's where the dmg installer puts them. Or was it the package installer? I've tried both, don't remember why. Any...

Re: Basic Recording with RME Fireface 800
Use the routing in Totalmix. Hit shift-X for the matrix window and route 7/8 to 1/2. As simple as that... If you are new to the FF800, take your time to experiment. Totalmix has so many functions, so many possibilities it really takes a while to "grok" them. And you probably never will use all of th...

Re: Menu flashing, will not save modified project
There are also a couple of sound settings in the Accessability cp in System prefs. And I've just noticed that it isn't the menu bar anymore these days, but the entire screen that flashes.
