Re: New Limiter in 2.1.1

I'm not sure what "too quiet" means. I can understand where you're coming from. It just means the algorithm starts from some averaged value. Now, I don't know what average, or what the algo does, but Steve wasn't referring to your capabilities as a recordist. I'm still figuring things out, but I'm ...

Re: What does "Stopped" mean in the left lower corner?

It simply means Audacity is not recording, or playing. In other words, the playhead is not moving through the audio file...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 crashes on OSX 10.8.5 (solved)

the "old" seettings directory did have the correct permissions Have you done Verify Disk and Repair Permissions yet? It does not matter what GetInfo says if your permissions are messed up. Gale That only verifies and repairs ***some*** system permissions. Doesn't do a thing for user owned data...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 on OSX 10.9.5

Just a checklist: - You did copy the Audacity app from the .dmg to the Applications folder, I hope? - Could you open Console (it's in /Applications/Utilities/) and have a look if there is an Audacity crash report, or if the "All messages" list at the top reveals any errors around the time you tried ...

Re: Need an audio format converter? Try Audacity!

Thinking that extensions tell you what kind of file you have, is a common misconception... And there are lots of file types that are so rare, it doesn't really help to make lists of them, as they could be anything. Examples: ".avi" and ".mov" are container formats. Their extension doesn't tell you w...

Re: Noise reduction and too high volume

Cryano, audio and video is set sync by 'Rightbooth' : http://www.rightbooth.com This is a videobooth app that works nice and is affordable for what I'm using it I've had a look at their website. Seems nice. No info about audio. So, no answer on how they record with external mics and if they can use...

Re: Zoom view snap-back feature.

Simply having a sensible default and going back to the same default when you "unzoom" (Zoom normal) would be a good start. When you open or import an audio file, I suppose zoom is calculated on a basis of length of the audio wave form? I can't grok the system as it is now. Seems like a sort of "undo...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 crashes on OSX 10.8.5 (solved)

1) I deleted the settings directory, which had been generated by v2.0.6. 2) Started up v2.1.1, and entered the locations for the Lame and ffmgep libraries manually. 3) Closed 2.2.1 4) Started the old 2.0.6, which complained about missing libraries, now. 5) Entered, again, the right places where Lam...
