Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
AFAIK every audio interface on the planet puts out either 16 or 24 bit samples By default Audacity "puts out" 16 bit WAV files. Like Protools and many other similar applications, Audacity has a native "project" format from which you can "export" (IIRC Protools calls it "bounce to disk") to create a...

Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
1. - Audio settings - 32 bit? AFAIK every audio interface on the planet puts out either 16 or 24 bit samples. Yet, Audacity shows 32 bit in the left pane of the main window. That is extremely confusing. I know that internally, Audacity uses 32 bit float. Every other DAW I know does the same, but non...

Re: Automatically import raw data files?
My only guess here is that it probably is a compressed format since storage is very limited on the ios platform. With high compression and hopefully, lossless. But there's a lot of those around...

Re: Multi-Track Digital Recorder vice other solutions
Tascam (and others) have a habit of announcing 2-channel recorders as 6-channel because they can play back four channels while recording 2... I don't think there is any real 4-channel recorder under 100$ on the market. The Roland R26 is a real 6 channel recorder, but it's around 400$ and still has l...

Re: Automatically import raw data files?
I have no idea what the internal format is for Rode's recording app. I've only used it on a couple of occasions, on a friend's iphone. I'd expect those to be PCM and that should work. Also, changing the extension doesn't usually work. On a Mac, extensions don't mean much. It might work with very sim...

Re: Automatically import raw data files?
You've copied Rode Rec's internal sound files. You should first export from the Rode Rec app to a format such as wav or aiff and email the file.
I don't use the app myself, but that seems to be the standard way.

Re: Waveform antialiasing
It's a bit of a support nightmare if you have to ask if it's on or not whenever anyone posts a waveform picture to this forum, for starters. Audacity (with standard settings) is already misleading. Experienced users will switch the waveform settings to "db" as one of the first things. Newbies might ...

Re: Multi channel recording using Behringer xenyx q802USB
Most guitars are Hi-Z. I don't see a guitar input on this Behringer. I'm not sure, since the Behringer site is rather scarce with info...

Re: Waveform antialiasing
Please, no blurring, anti-aliasing or whatever. A waveform should be as true as possible to the waveform. It doesn't matter if it doesn't look good. It needs to be accurate, not good looking!
