Re: converting a wav to midi
This "crap" is maybe the cutting edge of audio technology. Learn.

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
I've been working in the marketing industry for a long time. Numbers is what I do. And when I see those numbers, I know something is wrong. I mean, "3 votes, 4 votes..." You may need to back up and get the 10,000 foot (3048M view). If you've been doing that for a while, you know that understanding ...

Re: converting a wav to midi
Until recently, the answer would have been: "Next to impossible".

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
I think most of these inexperienced users will do better with a realistic view. I have already given many examples that illustrate clearly that a logarithmic scale is no more "realistic" than a linear scale. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. To make use of either view you need to learn how ...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
I'm not at all too sure if discussing is a favorite sport here... Hahaha - actually we do like a bit of discussion here ;) 8-) I'm glad you can see the funny side of it. The trouble is that there are *very* few active developers to take on feature requests. And since we are a volunteer organization...

Re: Multi-Track Digital Recorder vice other solutions
You said they can run without drivers, does this mean it is irrelevant (in general) what hardware on my computer I am using? I am using a Lenovo G50 laptop with upgraded Ram to 8 GB for recording, which I know is not ideal, but that is what I am using. I would hate to purchase this and then find ou...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
Interestingly, linear units are used a great deal in digital signal processing. When I first started using Audacity I was also very critical of the +/- 1.0 default scale. However, I have softened my opinion over the years. I agree that novice users will benefit from "education", but we need to bala...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
Core Audio needed to adjust? Sorry, I can't help with that (I don't see that issue on Linux). Perhaps worth raising that as a new topic on the Mac OS X board. Not worth the trouble. It's probably only on my system. And I don't know anyone else playing around with 32 bit samples :o It's just that my...

Re: Multi-Track Digital Recorder vice other solutions
The ESI Maya is the most afforable 4 channel interface ATM, at 89 €: http://www.thomann.de/be/esi_maya_44_usb.htm It has no mic preamps, but should work with you mixer. And if that mixer has auxes, you can record 4 channels independently. It would render the built-in USB interface of the mixer usele...

Re: InternalPortAudio error since windows 10 update
I've been following Win 10 update, mostly for audio. Installing the latest drivers for audio or even reinstalling existing ones seems to fix this error for most people.
It seems MS has done a great job on this one. Can't remember any update that had so little problems...
