Re: Steps to mixing multitrack recordings
That sounds like the proper procedure. What's the problem?

Re: Strange noises on telephone
Sounds like VOIP retraining. It shouldn't land on the phoneline's audio, but lots of these DSL voice routers are a bit buggy.
I don't hear words, just test signals from a DSL figuring out how much audio bandwidth and latency there is. And that sounds oddly human in a cartoon-like way sometimes

Re: Anyone have luck? External USB Sound Card w/double mic-p
I've had dozens of those Chinese interfaces. Never that cheap, but anyhow... As the Koz said, for less than a buck, you'll need to buy & try. Most of these are quite useable. Some are crap. But nobody knows which are which, not even the seller. You don't expect the seller to test them at these price...

Re: Multi-Track Digital Recorder vice other solutions
Hmm, so what I'm gathering is there isn't a single mixer available that will allow the user to have a line out function for the FX Send channel that can be connected to an additional device unless I want to drop thousands of dollars? I believe you because I've been looking for over a week, at least...

Re: How to record sound from different angles
Isono can do this: http://www.iosono-sound.com/game-audio/ This is an expensive, professional plugin for game devs. I don't know if it even works with Audacity. Waves also has an offering, but it's also expensive and doesn't work with Audacity: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/360SurrBun Tokyo...

In that case you'd need to offer notch center frequencies above 20 KHz too, for those recording wildlife or mechanical vibrations.
In fact, I'm surprised by the number of people recording bats on this forum.

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 recording problems on OS X Yosemite 10.10
I'm suspecting an OSX problem.
And as there recently have been updates to 10.10.5, I'd try those. If they don't show up in the appstore, get them from here:

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
Arguably, if we want to represent "how it sounds" we should use " sone " scaling (rather tricky to implement as it is frequency dependent, but not impossible). That would be even better. But I was looking for a low-cost solution to a perceived problem. I don't think implementing "sone" will be low-...

Re: Automatically import raw data files?
Can anyone think of a 3rd party utility (or using scripts) that would detect the file extension, open Audacity, and then send keystrokes to go through the Import Raw Data menu? I'm not familiar with what Apple Scripts can do and if they can intercept the system's file association process. AppleScri...
