Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
Just a stab in the dark: See this post: viewtopic.php?p=411409#p411409 Good afternoon Koz, I did the clean shut down last night. I checked HD utilization and found: I am using 119 of 920 Gb. I performed a disk clean up on all categories, clearing about 6 Gb of unnecessary files as defined by Window...

Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
I patched your post. Drag-select a quote and click the quotation mark button at the top of the text frame. It makes it much easier to keep up with who said what to whom if they are a different color. Thanks You had all the symptoms of a playback problem and I took a wild stab. And this may be a goo...

Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
She also narrates from that text so, there are two windows running. So there are two sound programs running at the same time? Audacity is not fond of that. Or did I misunderstand? No, I wasn't clear. The text she is reading is stored in the Cloud (Google Drive). She accesses the text in a Chrome win...

Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
Thank you for responding, and I apologize for the inappropriate language. 1. Yes, the track playback sounds good, but then quickly deteriorates with each playing. I have not tried the things you suggested. I will do those things and report back 1. Export the file to .wav, and maybe a couple of other...

After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
I just spent an hour putting together a detailed note to the group only to lose it when trying to post. What the hell happened to it! Deep Breath I am using: Audacity 2.4.2 Windows 10 2004 Tascam US-366 AI Rode NT2-A Mic Problem: Getting static on playback of Audio we recorded. Very little on first ...

Re: Optimal Audio Settings
Speak so the three green lights on the preamp are working (approximately, it doesn't have to be surgically accurate). Advance the Tascam Input 1 until the yellow SIG light starts flashing. I'm guessing now. Advance the big Line-Out knob to half-way, plug your headphones into the Tascam, turn Mono M...

Re: Optimal Audio Settings
Yes I do have an XLR cable connected just as you said. I don't have a 1/4" jumper cable; I'll try to get one tomorrow. I'll post after I've done that. I'm pretty sure I understand the rest of your instructions, but I'll know better after correcting the proper cable. I realize that I've got a long wa...

Re: Optimal Audio Settings
I missed this one. I'm not following a recipe. Just trying what I've gleaned from various sources. And no, I haven't worked on the room yet other than trying to get rid of existing noise. For example I ditched the laptop I had planned to use because when it got hot the fan noise was very loud. I've ...

Re: Optimal Audio Settings
Thank you for looking at this and responding so quickly. The gold dot appears to be just that. It appears to be decorative. But I'll read through what I have on it and let you know. I do have a 1/4" adapter for the headphones and when I plug them into the line out, the volume is very low, but if I m...

Re: Optimal Audio Settings
I knew I would leave something out. I am setting up a studio at home for my wife's audiobook narration and voice over work.
