unfortunately, as long as 1.3 is labeled as a Beta version, the IT person at work (where I'm using the program) won't let me install it.

Silencing part of a track causes Audacity to Crash
I've tried to silence part of several different tracks, but it always causes Audacity to crash. What's happening? I'm using Audacity 1.2.6 and Windows XP. Thanks.

Yes, I know both versions can exist on my computer, but the problem is that because 1.3.x is labeled "Beta" the IT person at my workplace where I need to use it won't install 1.3 for me.

When will 1.3.x be out of Beta version
I use Audacity at work and the 1.3 version has at least one feature that I desperately need (the ability to highlight several tracks and time shift them at once). I am not allowed to install the 1.3 version because it is a Beta version. When will it be out of Beta?
