Re: Crashing on Yosemite
Gale, Do you still have "Prevent App Nap" enabled in Audacity's right-click "Get Info" menu? Yes. Just an observation regarding display issues. I've been running El Capitan Public Beta on the side to see how it does. When running on El Cap Audacity does not rapidly flash the screen on saving a new r...

Re: Crashing on Yosemite
Smells like a graphics related bug. Possibly a font server error. Do you have MS Office* or Chrome** installed? * MS Office comes with MS fonts. A corruption of one of these could wreak havoc. ** Google Chrome has an updater running in the background. It's a buggy bastard. Chrome is installed, but ...

Re: Crashing on Yosemite
This evening Audacity 2.1.1 crashed on Yosemite when plugging in my second display. This is the second time this has happened. Last time it was with Audacity 2.1.0. Actually, it has happened every time I connect the second display if is Audacity is open. This time it was doing nothing, just sitting ...

Re: Crashing on Yosemite
Tried the recording scenario you suggested on El Capitan with no crash. Was trying on Yosemite and Audacity 2.1.1 crashed while just sitting doing nothing after the first recording. As far as I can tell the crash happened when I plugged in my second display so probably is not related to the crashes ...

Responding to Gale's post. cmac185 wrote: My son upgraded his Snow Leopard to Yosemite a month or so ago. He has tried to run 2.1.1 and says he has deleted the audacity folder in the Application Support directory, but 2.1.1 will not start under any circumstances and 2.1.0 runs fine. His MBP is about...

Re: 2.1.1 Crash on startup - Yosemite 10.10.4
Do you quit Audacity before copying back the original directory in your step 5? If you don't do that, Audacity would still be using the default temp dir - when you quit Audacity it would overwrite your custom temp dir in audacity.cfg with its default temp dir. Yes, I quit Audacity before making any...

Re: 2.1.1 Crash on startup - Yosemite 10.10.4
Responding to Gale's post on July 25. Please attach all the .cfg files from the original ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/ (that is, after renaming that directory). To attach the files, either rename them to .txt or zip them up. Or, does audacity.cfg in the original folder contain Code: Select...

Re: 2.1.1 Crash on startup - Yosemite 10.10.4
I'm not sure where to put this, but maybe this is part of the puzzle. I find that I have to rename the original audacity directory then start 2.1.1. It will then run and I can either do all the setup or exit, copy back the original directory and reopen Audacity 2.1.1. This is the strange thing - if ...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 and OS X 10.10.4
I can't say what causes the problem, but there is an easy "fix" that works for me on Yosemite and El Capitan when I upgraded from 2.1.0. I used this method because I wanted to keep my old settings since I had things setup how I like them, but the other option is just to delete the original folder an...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 crashes on OSX 10.8.5
Don't have an answer why the console messages I posted in the last post were there, but I finally got 2.1.1 running by renaming the Audacity directory at Library/Application Support/Audacity. Then I stated 2.1.1 and shut it back down and then restarted it again just fine so set some preferences then...
