Forgot to mention - the grounding adapter was used on the sound board.

Believe it or not, a simple $.29 gray ground adapter solved the problem. Thanks for the advice though!

Both files appear empty. It seems you have the same problem I do in recording sermons. As the previous poster said - the latest version of Audacity 1.3 works great at noise removal. I record church sermons so I run a red & white RCA from the board to a single point 1/8 inch plug which goes into my laptop mic jack. Anytime the laptop is plugged in, it makes horrible background noise. When I unplug the laptop, the recording is crystal clear. How can I record crystal clear sou...
