Re: crash recovery irregularities
"Do you have split lines (black vertical lines in the project separating clips in the track)? Clicking on those lines to merge clips or clicking close to those lines can cause crashes. Usually it only affects specific projects. Is it only one project that crashes?" Yes, I have the black lines, but I...

"Reinstall doesn't scrub Audacity clean"
What doesn't it clean, and is that problematical?
"You can install multiple different Audacity versions as long as you never run more than one."
So if I can find out how to install a new version, leaving the old, that might be a good option.

Re: crash recovery irregularities
"getting the words right is a big deal" It was "inconsistencies". I originally tried a search with "irregularities" and got nothing. So I just searched "audacity recover inconsistencies" and got the page: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recovery.html That answers my question, it says there are ...

Re: crash recovery irregularities
Yes, a box comes up every time saying there are irregularities, or maybe the word was "inconsistencies". My question concerns whether the recovered unsaved file really needs to be replaced due to damage. Besides power loss, when I'm clicking in the graphic sometimes a click will seem to cause Audaci...

crash recovery irregularities
Audacity 2.0.3, Windows 7 Professional
When Audacity crashes or the computer shuts down, and recovery says there are irregularities, what does this mean? What kinds of irregularities, and do they seriously compromise quality?

Re: How to get rid of extraneous noises
A drawback of silencing is that it leaves an unnatural audio gap. To keep the timing, I sometimes paste an equal portion of compatible ambient sound.

Re: low volume and hum using mic
You've all given me a lot to study and experiment with. I have decisions to make. Thanks for working with me so long. I'll be back at some point to let you know how it goes.
I am wondering why the post before last is one of my early posts, as if a current response to Steve from filmjhohnn21 (?)

Re: low volume and hum using mic
I certainly didn't intend to make trouble here. I trying to understand something beyond my knowledge. I've made purchases based on recommendations here. I need to assess this best I can, not sure what I will purchase or not. It's not just an exercise. It is confusing when the experts disagree when I...

Re: low volume and hum using mic
Thanks for all that. I'll consider these items if I decide to change equipment. Not expensive. Do you agree with Chris that the Dual Pre is the source of my noise? There is a power line 50 or 60 ft away, but it serves only a few properties in this rural area, some are summer camps. My electric is mi...

Re: low volume and hum using mic
This is over my head. Better tell me exactly what to do. I'll understand later.
