Re: FFmpeg Library not found - Audacity 2.1.0

I got it as far as the avformat-55.dll appearing in the space when I clicked Locate in library Preferences. Then I clicked OK, but when I looked again, it was still "not found". I cannot import mpeg. If the next instruction is successful, and it is found, and I can import, do I need to leave the dll...

Re: FFmpeg Library not found - Audacity 2.1.0

I tried to save the download to C:Program Files (x86)FFmpeg for Audacity, but it says I don't have permission, consult the administrator. How can I do this?

Thanks. I see the latest FFmpeg is 2.6.1. Is that not recommended?

Re: low volume and hum using mic

I suppose you are weary of my problem. I don't blame you, so am I. I'm surprised how hard it is to make a mic work.

Re: low volume and hum using mic

An update on my problem recording mic on Audacity: I bought the ART USB Dual Pre to replace the XLR to USB cable which produced a hum and far too low recording volume at highest settings. The Dual Pre is a little better. There is less noise (which still requires reduction) and the volume is a little...

Re: Loss with repeated edits in WAV?

"What are the exact circumstances that lead you to think that "none" would be better?" I don't know anything about it. I don't really understand dither. I wanted to clarify your statement that: "Dither is not required for 32 bit float format" I've been using Download Helper to download music videos...

Re: Loss with repeated edits in WAV?

Re: Loss with repeated edits in WAV?

"While working in the Audacity project, provided that you are using the default 32 bit float format (see the info in the panel on the left end of the track) you can keep making as many edits as you like with no loss of sound quality." Do you mean : if you don't export and re-open to edit? What if t...

Loss with repeated edits in WAV?

Audacity 2.0.3, Windows 7 Professional

It was my understanding that repeated edits of WAV files are lossless. But I read somewhere that there can be loss if the dither is set wrong. Is this true?

I'm also wondering whether there is a lossless format with smaller file size than WAV.
