Re: relative quality from recorded or converted audio

Maybe I need to isolate and clarify the question.

How much loss is there when recording with Audacity? How much higher kbps audio stream, relative to kbps of a download, is necessary for there be an advantage to recording the higher stream?

Re: relative quality from recorded or converted audio

Numbers like 32 and 64 are pretty depressing for me. I want to exceed 128 anyway. I read that "HD" videos are usually about 160 kbps now. I understand that there is a lot of compressed trash on Youtube, but there are also what appear to be professionally produced videos. I have learned to recognize ...

relative quality from recorded or converted audio

I do shows with recorded music, and i depend on internet sources for material. My question is whether recording audio from videos with Audacity may be better than downloading and importing the audio. I recently learned that the highest quality you can download from most Youtubes is lower than the hi...

Audacity won't open mp4 files

Windows 7
Audacity 2.1.1
exe installer

I try to open an mp4, a message comes that it is an Advanced Audio Coding file, and Audacity cannot open this type of file. I believe this is happening because I allowed an anti-malware program to clean my computer a bit too well. How do I reset Audacity?

audio set-up problem

Windows 7, Audacity 2.1.0, exe I had a serious crash and had to replace my hard drive, so I lost Audacity. I successfully installed Audacity, but not Lame. I downloaded Lame to a folder, and see it there when I open the folder, but Audacity preferences won't recognize it when I browse from there, an...

Re: Tangled Up In Blue

Windows 7, Audacity 2.1.o Clicking in the vertical scale zooms in on the waveform frequencies, centered at the click point, so you may well see only dark blue as a result. You can right-click (or hold Shift and left-click) to zoom back out one step at a time. Or you can hold Shift and right-click to...

Tangled Up In Blue

Every so often, I slip and click somewhere I must not ought to click, and suddenly the blue graphic goes half hidden. i caught on that if I clicked enough times on the numbers to the left, the view cycle I was snared in would go full circle and return to normal. This is usually successful, but today...
