Re: Replacement for E-MU 1616

Maybe your 1820M is a totally different product from the 1616M setup. Whatever, I've tired of the 1616 drivers' hide-and-seek, so have stopped chasing it altogether. To answer your question, at the moment, I have two DAWs, Audacity and Pro Tools. Each has its strengths. With Pro Tools, usability is ...

Re: Replacement for E-MU 1616

Thanks, the site's in French, but I've managed to check out the drivers. They're links at E-Mu, where I've already downloaded all available 1616M PCI and PatchMix app drivers directly. As for sending to Wave, been there, done that ad nauseam, using the instructions posted at Emu.com for Skype, and v...

Re: Replacement for E-MU 1616

Thanks, Gale, for your additional tip, but (as the split-off from the original thread reflects) my concern is no longer how to compile Audacity to achieve ASIO compatibility. In any case, that wouldn't resolve the problem regarding Skype, Sound Recorder, Total Recorder, etc. Rather than thinking abo...

Re: Replacement for E-MU 1616

All, Thanks for the guidance and suggestions, and thanks for splitting the thread. In addition to wanting to do a little of everything in terms of audio, I'm in the same situation with my computer. A professional studio studio wouldn't be getting email, writing articles and Photoshopping on the same...

Re: Replacement for E-MU 1616

This is an update and follow-up, although I don't know if it will be helpful to anyone at this date, and I realize it amounts to an almost random collection of responses to the various open questions and issues. . . . Sorry, I have researched and experimented the he** out of this problem, to the ext...

Re: Replacement for E-MU 1616

Just to tie this up, I suppose.... When I said the link to info on compiling Audacity involved a very old Audacity version, I probably meant this page or one linked on it: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/ASIO_Audio_Interface . However, if that's the case, that page or whatever I went to from it ma...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?

Thanks to all for the thoughtful responses. Although, I don't see what problem there could be in providing an optional detailed version of any instruction, for anything. There are even several ways to present it that would not cause duplicate content. In any case, learning otherwise unneeded (for me...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?

Another thought... (I know I'm jumping the gun here, but am open to any practical, affordable solution that doesn't interfere with my other needs.) It's not okay for a third (fourth?) party to compile Audacity with ASIO and give it to someone else, whether as a paid service or not. It's probably not...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?

My audio interface is an E-MU 1616 MicroDock. The routing software that is integral with it, PatchMix,is ASIO-based. PatchMix is more than a bit confusing at first, and E-MU appears to be out of business. But I've gotten over the start-up hump and both the hardware and software are extremely versati...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?

PS: I have found a detailed guide for total compiling novices, but it is for an ancient version of Audacity. I must assume the related software is also changed somewhat since then. Searching further still turns up nothing suitable or recent. So my question remains. (Sorry, I don't see a way to edit ...
