Koz, Thanks for all your help. I trashed all the lame files and started over. Still had the same problem. Then I downloaded only one of the four files I had combined. Worked fine. So I found the one .mp3 file that was a problem, tried to convert it again from WNA, still a problem and decided to live...

This is what it says on the lame file in my applications: v3.98.2

I downloaded Lame more than once and have LameLib but also LameLib.2 etc. Could that be a problem?

I have a question about Audacity 1.2.6 running on my 1.67 GHz Power PC G4 Mac with Mac OS X 10.4.11

Assertion (gfc->mf_size <= MFSIZE) failed in "lame.c" on line 1501

This has come up several times as I tried to export an MP3 file. It freezes up everything and I have to quit Audacity and start over. I'm tired ot doing that. What's the solution to overcome this?
