Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
Ok, it seems that I've at last found the culprit. Chunks must always have a even number of bytes. If I want to assign "Mac" to the 'NAME' ID, I can do so, but I have to pad a 0 byte after "c". THANK YOU and I hope this plans out. "0 byte after ..." According to links, data is left justified. I will...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
In the past, some iPod users have said that unless the iPod is connected via USB, it cannot play files that have metadata. He only chooses "AIFF (Apple) signed 16 bit PCM". Is that correct? Gale Of course saving the multi export files with ( Amadeus, Peak, iTunes , Foobar20000'....) "fixes" that iP...

Try this http://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/uNl6lQ06PNmF31n%2FkI59GOQrTBfYcSZ%2BbuhKDdEn3LGw0mUyqSy1Mg The link I listed was an old link. I corrected it a few notes down. I went to the first link I used It said add new files I thought that meant all the files would be stored on first link. Were actu...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
re ran test set iTunes import preferences to AAC down loaded file had iTunes open file appeared in itunes without manual intervention file info says is aiff not AAC so iTunes did not "import" not sure how it got there. Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
I down loaded the file iTunes opened by itself The file appeared in iTunes automatically. It behaved as if I had inserted a CD and did not have my preference to ask before importing. I did not add the file to library The tone played on the iPod. I will check iTunes, try to see if it imported the fil...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
Would you mind testing the Foobar2000 version? tone 2fb.aiff It is nearer to the original than the iTunes version (only 12 bytes bigger). It seems that iTunes adds a lot of stuff. Foobar2000 was a bit anxious. When I downloaded it, it got iTunes attention and marched right in on autopilot. Played f...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
The picture has changed totally. Now, the iTunes files have increased in size. (well, the converter was Amadeus for the last set) It is Amadeus II (2006) which is a bit old but is still a fine product. Not sure either Amadeus II or Peak LE 4 (2003) handle metadata well but at least the saved aiff o...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
Unfortunately, the new files do not support my first hypothesis. My favorite hypothesis is still that iPod can't find the end of file (whatever that is) My only witness is Peak LE 4 (2003) that tries to open a multi export file 3 or 4 time displaying top error 3 or 4 times and finally gives up disp...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
I've compared the different uploaded files. 8 files in total: test.aiff test_amd.aiff 01-s.aiff 01-s_amd.aiff ... 03-s_amd.aiff Both test.aiffs have the same length and seem to have the same tags. But those play both on the iPod, Ipresume? test.aiff tested and plays All split files, as produced by ...
