I've successfully recorded with audacity 1.3.5 beta as supplied by Debian. Then I downloaded LAME 3.98.2, and audacity "found" the library -- seemingly correctly. But there is still no Option to Export to MP3 .... and I don't know where to look, nor what information is required for diagnosis. Maybe ...
