Re: Recommeded settings to burn commercial CDs?

I prefer gapless playback of an album, so not having metadata is okay. It worked well, thanks. An interesting thing did happen. I had previously saved one long track as a .flac. I re-imported into itunes, then into Audacity, then saved as a .wav file. But the .wav file is larger than the .flac file ...

Recommeded settings to burn commercial CDs?

Before I start to transfer some of my commercially bought CDs to a computer file format (for personal use only), I thought I'd ask if there are recommended settings for doing so. Also, is there a recommended output format? File size is not important, but I do want to burn all the available informati...

Re: Combining separate files into one file (e.g., add file)

Thanks Robert. V2.0.5 allign end to end did work. A timely enhancement!

BTW, I was using import in V2.0.2, but I went directly to select all then export, and it only exported the last track.

Combining separate files into one file (e.g., add file)

I've read the search topics, and online manual topics, on combining files (no valid hits under add file), and any advice given is not correct for V2.0.2. I am transferring some of my commercial CDs to use on my portable listening device. I was successful doing it the hard way. I imported the CD into...

Re: Can I adjust audio balance?

Thanks Gale. I really don't want to put any more time into this. There is something funky about the file, and I'll request they play it again so I can get a new recording.

Re: Can I adjust audio balance?

While I appreciate the efforts you have made to help me, I would need a day or so to educate myself about audacity just to understand what you said. Also, for some reason, the Nyquist stuff never loaded when I installed my V2.0.2. I see I have a folder called Nyquest. But until I unchecked Nyquest (...

Re: Can I adjust audio balance?

Thank you all for your help and input. I'm going to call this a success. First: Robert J.H. : Way over my head! But cool and well written. ;) Gale: I tried the middle of your three bulleted suggestions. The preset values were 10.9R and 10.7L. For future reference, should not these values be equal? I...

Re: Can I adjust audio balance?

I just did kozikowski's suggestion. I increased the right track by 5.5 dB then saved the file as flac. I want to clarify something. When I increase the gain and then play the file in Audacity, the right channel sound on the computer's internal speakers does increase. Am I missing a step? Clearly sp...

Re: Can I adjust audio balance?

The unit is a Panasonic DMR-E85H. I just did kozikowski's suggestion. I increased the right track by 5.5 dB then saved the file as flac. However, the final product is still as loud as the first attempt described in my most recent previous post, but the wave form looks like the adjustment took. Is it...

Re: Can I adjust audio balance?

If the track you balanced at -1 dB is too loud, use normalize again on that track, choosing a lower dB (greater negative number) and with "independently" unchecked. Gale I will try this in about 2 hours, when I finish recording another block of titles. Would it make any difference if I re-record a ...
