Re: ACX Check Shows Noise Floor Still Too High, RMS & Peak Passing

I have a Fifine USB microphone; it was $45 (pic attached); so in hindsight I don’t doubt it’s the issue! Apparently half of the +5K Amazon reviews for that are bogus, (I'd wager that's an underestimate), see ... https://www.fakespot.com/product/usb-microphone-fifine-metal-condenser-recording-microp...

I use the following
1.Noise removal
2.Compressor
3.Reverb
4.High pass filter at 80
5.De-esser
6.Normalize
De-ess should be before reverb, e.g. ...

and I was wondering how I could make this a lot smoother

PaulStretch without stretching applies temporal-blur which smooths out bumpiness.

Re: Is this Acx sample up to technical standard please?

When Trebor publishes his settings, that should give you a good place to start. suggested de-esser settings.png The threshold for Paul-L's de-esser should be close to the RMS of the audio , (+/-2 dB). (IMO leave the other De-Esser settings as shown). Paul-L's de-esser is a multi-band brickwall limi...

Re: Is this Acx sample up to technical standard please?

Hi, could you please rate this Acx demo sample ... It's very good, apart from the excessive sibilance. I'm with Koz : the only cure is a de-esser ... ''Treated with respect'', B-A.flac Depending on how you're listening the sibilance may not sound excessive. With in-ear headphones the sibilance, (pa...

... is there anything I can do to improve the general quality otherwise? Attachments test.wav (312.04 KiB) That's not a raw recording: noise/echo reduction has been applied, possibly before the sound got to Audacity. It's usually best to switch those audio enhancements off, (I don't speak mac). Ins...

Spectrogram view is more useful than waveform view when trying to identify (recurring) sounds.
( No automated way of identifying & removing though).

Re: Correcting Acoustics for "Tin- can Effect"

There are de-reverb plugins ... viewtopic.php?p=380794#p380794
but IMO the artefacts they create would ruin a musical performance: more harm than good.
