Re: Podcast Problems

Your recording is highly distorted by compression artefacts, (I have attached an “before & after” example of this phenomenon as an mp3 in zip file). My suggestions to improve the podcast … 1. Convert the original stereo 44000Hz recording into a mono 22050Hz version. The “Tracks” menu in Audacity 1.3...

Re: using the noise reduction in version 1.3.7

If the noise is quiet then amplify the noise, e.g. normalise it, before sampling a bit for the “noise profile”. This will make the noise loud enough for you to hear clearly so you can select a bit which is typical noise and doesn't contain any atypical sounds, (e,g, faint background sounds of voices...

Re: Help with sound effect for World Of Warcraft addon

The MorphVox tool has some nice effects, but after listening to some of the samples available on their website (e.g. the demon voice and some others) its not even close to what I'm after. I have the basic clips created via the text-to-speech tool available on AT&T labs site [ http://www.research.at...

You could try posting the above request here ... http://www.freesound.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=8 Some of the contributors at Freesound may recognise the text-to-speech programme used. This company sells voice converters and a text to voice plugin (at additional cost). e.g. of their voice converter ...

Re: How to prevent loss of high tones on import?

Hmm... I just had a moment when everything seemed perfectly fine. The only difference is, I was working in another Audacity window. The sample sound I was working with is something much like an alarm clock beep. In one window, when I imported the sound it was reduced to sounding dull... but in the ...

Re: How to prevent loss of high tones on import?

Possibly Umbrascitor is accidentally saving at a lower sample rate. This would result in loss of high frequencies, (example attached)

Look at your "Project sample rate" Umbrascitor, (bottom left corner in Audacity 1.3).

Re: Click and Noise-Removal from Voice/Speech-Recording

The signal to noise ratio is very poor, have you amplified this sample ? I think he has not (not so tech-savvy). Should I try to amplifiy it? I thought it would weaken the signal further and noise should be removed first. Which Effect(s) should I use to amplify it? I was not suggesting that you sho...
