-3dB is barely audible, -18dB is about half volume, and -60 is about the limit of hearing. 20Hz is the sound of an earthquake, 440 is that oboe sound in the orchestra, most stuff above about 15000 either can't be heard, of sounds like frying. I did experiment and in a silent room, with earbud headp...

Re: Ringing in Conversion from Wav to MP3

Having re-read the original post I think Palmeroo is downsampling to 16000Hz (i.e. 8000Hz bandwidth) ... We are recording voice educational lectures in wav with an H2 recorder and would like to compress them to place on a website. We notice a bad ringing at the 16000 Hz MP3 joint stereo setting comp...

For voice-only (not music) recording, 10Khz bandwidth is plenty (you could even get away with 5KHz but it'll sound like a telephone). Resample*...

Irish recently pointed out this freebee reverb which is rather good.

Re: How do I record sound from YouTube?

I think there are other sites similar to Keepvid which allow you to download the sound from a Youtube video directly as MP3, (no need for rip on Super). Freebee YouTube downloader will download youtube video then rip a high quality (256Kbps 48000Hz) Mp3 from it. ("YouTube downloader" also rips MP3 ...

... is there a tool in Audacity that you used to identify the noise and the way the sound spectrum should sound?
