Re: Increasing levels

Using "Amplify" (on the "Effects" drop down menu), with the default settings will make a track as loud as possible. Using a lower (but positive) number than the default value in "Amplify" will make the sound louder, but not maximum-loud. [using a negative number in "Amplify" makes the sound quieter ...

Re: Another highly dynamic recording problem

You wouldn’t use that extreme level of compression if you just wanted to record the performance, as it does distort the attack and decay. If you want to have the director’s voice louder and clearer (less reverberation) in future reversals you could position the recorder /microphones closer to her, (...

If you resample the track to 96000Hz, then apply pitch shift I think less artifacts are created than pitch shift at the normal (44100Hz) sample rate. You can resample back down (to 44100Hz or whatever) after the pitch shift has been applied. Like you say "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" does a bette...

I have now downloaded the FFmpeg installer and the same problem persists. I also tried to convert it to a WAV file using AVS software but it came out as a AU format sound file (what is that?) Any further ideas anybody? Thanks Audacity 1.3.11 will play the WMA files I've got without having to conver...

... I'm sorry to say that your sample has nothing to do with the sample I provided. The Lich King's voice is having an ethereal-like background. Yours sounds like some faded echo. It obviously needs more than that and this is what I'm looking for. :( I was just trying to illustrate the least obviou...

Re: Trying to sound like a little girl

I actually want to make an effect in my recording like the Lich King, from World of Warcraft PC game. Example is located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2StG_QncKP0 . Reversed reverb (and forward reverb & echo) has been used. For the reverse reverb effect: reverse the track, apply a little rev...

I think I figured it out finally, not only was the weird skipping happening, but the whole song sound bad, tinny echoing etc. I set the sample rate to 96000Hz and it came out fine, very odd why that happened first time around. Another programme may have been running during the previous recording wh...

Any other idea's?
Your hard drive could be too full, or in need of defraging.

Could be other software running on your machine which has priority over Audacity.

If you click on this link then you'll know as much I do.
