The standard Audacity link for "remove" "isolate" ... http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Vocal_Removal Usually the results are not good: complete removal or isolation is near impossible and there will be digital artifacts if using the spectral subtraction method, (e.g. using Kn0ck0ut or Ex...

Re: Saving Audacity Data Files
Mp3 is a lossy compression format: making an mp3 from an mp3 will degrade the sound quality a little each time you do it.
If you have the original sound files in an uncompressed format, or lossless compression format like Flac, this generational degradation does not occur.

Re: Volume issues
Just because the music and voice have been normalized to the same level. i.e. have the same maximum amplitude, does not mean they will sound equally loud. The music waveform may have more RMS power and consequently sound louder than the voice. Also different sound frequencies of the same amplitude d...

Re: Equalization
Are you reinstalling a fresh copy of Audacity from the sourceforge site ?.
[If you are reinstalling the same damaged files from the copy on your computer the problem will recur].

Re: Equalization
However all equalization (presets) curves suddenly disappeared from Audacity. I have removed and reinstalled Audacity several times, rebooted my computer but to no avail. I'm using a Dell Studio (64bits) with Windows Vista. It all worked fine untill the curves just went away. All other effect funct...

Re: Editting vocal clips into "thought"
I’ve had a go, before-After(s) attached … Voice in head, Before-Afters.mp3 I removed all the frequencies below 250Hz, then applied ANWIDA reverb on default settings, The second “after” has dynamic range compression. If your recording is in stereo convert it to mono for the “voice in head” effect. [ ...

Re: recording problems
1.preamp out on amp to mic in on laptop. results in a flat sounding recording which records decent enough for a couple seconds until the gain seems to go down and the recording gets slightly quieter . Look for "AGC" / "Auto Volume" / "Echo Cancelling," in microphone properties and disable as they c...

Re: Vocal Isolation - Impossible?
I've used Kn0ck0ut (similar method to ExtraBoy) it sounds 'orrible but the voice is isolated ... 'Hitch' Before-After Kn0c0ut.mp3 First I used the inversion centre-pan removal method to create a track which was everything but the centre-panned Will Smith. Then I Hyperexpanded this Smith-free track t...
