Re: "Gas mask" effect?

Nearest I can get at short notice is an astronaut helmet effect ... before-after 'astronaut-helmet' effect.mp3 Remove all frequencies below 300Hz (using equalizer). Apply David Sky's comb filter : frequency 444Hz, decay 0.04 Then leveller on "light", ( leveller is in Audacity's effect menu...

Re: "Gas mask" effect?

I'm looking to put an effect similar to speaking through a gas mask on some recorded dialog, something like Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid . You've linked to a three hour video (!), I didn't know Youtube videos could be that long. For those who don't have 3 hours to spare here's a sample of the ...

Re: Click/Breathing/Noise not sure what to call it removal h

This is how commercial recording studios get around this problem. That's what the round black screen does. It's a pop and blast filter. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/wynonna2.jpg …It is due tommorow I suggest you make a pop screen from household items , e.g. a thin shirt on a coathanger, and re-re...

Re: Trying to record audio in Audacity

I did try that, all that comes up on my recording tab is microphone (saffire audio) default device. I have show disabled & show disconnected devices enabled too. Any other suggestions? Make sure the "line-in" option is enabled in windows recording devices, select it [line in] as the d...

Re: What kind of effects used in these?

http://www.box.net/shared/c79ljq4nzc The main technical problem is that you are too close to the microphone causing distortion in places. You could try making an improvised pop shield … http://www.hometracked.com/2006/05/28/homemade-pop-filters/ (If nothing else a pop shield will keep you further f...

Re: How to reduce WAV file, freq, etc, still understand spe

I'm asking for method how to prepare sound (low pass, normalization, etc.) before convertion to 8 bit. In other words, what to do, to extract from speech unnecessary frequency (which ones), or other techniques, to gain the best sample to convert to 8bit and no more 2kB for 0,7sek long sound. Low pa...

Re: How to reduce WAV file, freq, etc, still understand spe

More details: - mono sounds - 8 bits per sample Click on "Options" when you save as "other uncompressed files" and you can select to save as 8-bit depth WAV ... Audacity has the 'option' to save as 8-bitWAV.png If you want to minimize the file size you'll need to reduce the samp...
