Recipe for "stairwell" effects needed for vocals.
... I went all through the effects, tweaking the echo, the speed, tempo, phaser, etc., until I got it just the way I need it before any instruments are applied. Now, I would like to add the additional 12 lines and I forgot what effects I used. Since Audacity does not remember "The History"...

The best cassette decks are capable of excellent sound, providing the tape and the recording are excellent quality, but such cassette decks are expensive and difficult to find these days. Re: two tracks playings at same time help split
Be advised Sonnys even if you perform the “invert”, (destructive interference), method correctly, there will still be traces of the sound you are trying to remove left behind, (because you saved it as a OGG which uses lossy compression ), e.g. attached … Destructive interference 'invert' method, bef...

Re: Best Practices?
using Audacity to clean everything up ... I've worked with most of the Audacity effects (amplify, noise reduction, equalization, compressor, tempo, etc.) You didn't mention noise gate , Steve made one which you can download from here (free). Gates attenuate the noise (down to true silence if requir...

If you boost the higher frequencies (above 2KHz by about 10db) after slowing or lowering it helps improve speech clarity.thomkowalski wrote:When lowering the pitch of a karaoke backing track, the result is always muddy and not clear

Re: Is my recording level too low? Is my amplified level ok?
What tricks did you use to get what you got? 1. Remove everything above 4KHz using equalizer, ( see Audacity's frequency analysis below). 2. Notch out the mains-hum spike (60Hz), and conspicuous mains-hum harmonics (120Hz, 180Hz, ...). 3. Noise reduction. hematohidrosis (before - after) spectrogram...

Re: Is my recording level too low? Is my amplified level ok?
I've applied all my magic tricks, (before-after here), but cleaning the lowest level audio does not reveal words which could not be understood in the original hissy audio.
