Re: Can't hear previous tracks while recording new ones

... the guitar track gets steadily further out of time with the percussion track even though I was playing in time and using latency correction. That's the problem, When recording in Audacity don’t run unnecessary software at the same time, (i.e. don't "multi-task"), e.g. disconnect from ...

Re: Dynamically change pitch

Chop out a tiny bit where the pitch is constant, and loop it, (seamlessly), using Audacity's "Repeat" effect. Then add some randomness to make it less obvious that it's a loop. "Random Amplitude Modulation" and "Random Pitch Modulation" plugins for Audacity here ... htt...

Re: Help needed recording Vinyl, results sound harsh

I'm currently listening to some test WAVs recorded at 24bit/48hz and they sound very good. However, when I downsample them to Flac they lose a bit of the sparkle. You may be unintentionally saving as 16 bit when you save as FLAC ... I think the default setting for FLAC in Audaciity is 16 bit (rathe...

Re: Can't hear previous tracks while recording new ones

I'm trying to record several tracks one after another You're probably going to need to read this ... Latency is important only when you are overdubbing, that is, recording a new track while listening to previously-recorded track(s). You want what you play to be in sync with the tracks you are liste...

Re: Help needed recording Vinyl, results sound harsh

The harshness (too much treble?) could be due to lack of RIAA de-emphasis. Audacity has a preset curve in the equalizer to do this ... ... most records manufactured from the 1950s onwards are produced with RIAA equalization, a form of pre-emphasis which boosts high frequencies and reduces low freque...
